Dear Wine Lovers,

Although the calendar says that autumn is just around the corner, the hot weather leaves no doubt that we’re still stuck in the heart of summer. So chill out with some cool deals on some very cool white wines. Quantities are limited and the savings are tremendous, so act soon!

2008 Resonance Vineyard g³, Oregon
Hugely popular at our last Case Lot Sale Tasting, this truly amazing wine is a rich, dry, powerful blend of organically and biodynamically grown Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Müller-Thurgau grapes from the Willamette Valley. Full and majestically aromatic, the wine is a hearty melange of lychee, orange zest, cloves, nuts, and tropical fruits. Full and dry, it's ready for just about any cuisine you can throw at it.

Regularly $27, now just $12 a bottle.

2007 Fontevecchia Verdicchio, Marches, Italy.

The Verdicchio vines of the Marches cling to the rocky hills above the Adriatic Sea. Baked by the sun and cooled by the sea breeze, those old vineyards yield a wine of perfumed intensity and fruity dryness. Beauty in a bottle, this shimmering white will dare you to resist a second sip.

Regularly $18, now just $9 a bottle.

2007 Perazzetta "Sara" Bianco, Tuscany, Italy.
From the rolling hills of Tuscany, this deliciously unusual white wine is made from the indigenous Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes blended with Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Vibrant and lively in style, the wine is briskly refreshing, with flavors of lemon-lime, melon, citrus blossoms and almonds. A perfect mate to light pastas with shellfish, salads, light cheeses, and cold cuts.

Regularly $15, now just $8 a bottle.

2008 Quinta de Azevedo, Vinho Verde, Portugal.
This dry, fresh, delicate wine is Portugal's "trademark" white. It is served in all the coastal towns to thirsty tourists and locals alike. Poured icy cold, its bare touch of palate-tingling spritz will add a little zip to a warm afternoon. If you need a wine that’s simple and pure, this is simply the wine to pour.

Regularly $11, now just $7.50 a bottle.

With the arrival of World Cup Soccer,
The Vineyard Wine Shop
presents
Wines of South Africa

Dutch settlers planted the first vineyards here in the 1700s.  South Africa has now gained a reputation for both red and white wines, particularly Chenin Blanc (known here as Steen), full bodied Cabernet, and Pinotage, a hybrid crossing of Pinot Noir and Cinsault that is unique to this country.  Look for more quality and variety as this great wine country emerges from it's onetime isolation.

Our selection of South African wines includes:
Pepper Pot, Stelle Kaya, Ken Forrester, Graham Beck,
and The Royal Chenin Blanc

Regularly $10 a bottle/$84 per case,
the 2009 Graham Beck Chardonnay-Viognier, South Africa
is a voluptuous wine from the Western Cape.  It dances on the palate with lemony, peary, tropical panache.  Zesty and full of flavor, it's perfect party wine
and a classic crowd-pleaser.

At $8 a bottle/$86 per case,
the 2009 Royal Chenin Blanc, Swartland, South Africa
is an amazingly satisfying wine  for the money.  This pretty Chenin Blanc is flush with citrus, tropical fruits, gooseberries, and that classic Chenin hint of honey.  Affordable enough to drink every day and good enough
to save for special occasions.

$10 a bottle/$108 per case
The perfect compliment to World Cup Soccer,
the 2009 Ken Forrester "Petit" Pinotage
is the hybrid grape of South Africa.  Pinotage is the melding or Cinsault and
Pino Noir.  It has aromas of spice and red fruits in the nose and mouth.
It is great with barbecued foods.
