NorthCreek Houdinis
The great Houdini, illusionist and visionist, has not been around since Halloween of 1926, however his spell continues to fascinate and intrigue many today. The Brand
According to Merriam-Webster, in the early 1920's a woman named Josephine Dickson grew tired of trying to wrap her cuts with bulky, clumsy gauze. Plaza Buzz
The Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District, the BID, just announced in their newletter that the final phase of the streetscape project will be the renovation of Fillmore Plaza. The hybrid plan will enhance pedestrian, event and retail activity in the area. The BID facilitated a collaborative discussion of many stakeholders, business leaders and City Council leader Jeanne Robb. The design ws approved unanimously by the BID Board. It also received a majority approval from registered neighborhood organizations such as Cherry Creek North, Cherry Creek East and the Country Club Neighborhood Assocation. The plan also received approval from experts within Denver City Planning offices, Public Works and the Denver Fire Department. The new design was paid for by the BID without any city funds. Work will begin after the first of the year and completed by the 2011 Cherry Creek Arts Festival. Fillmore is the eastern boundary for the community of NorthCreek. Eighty Twenty
Acccording to Wikipedia, the eighty twenty principle was suggested by management thinker Joseph M. Juran and named after the Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto who observed that 80 percent of income in Italy was received by 20 percent of the population. The assumption is that most of the results in any situation are determined by a small number of causes. It is also suggested that 80 percent of our outcomes come from 20 percent of our inputs, and in many cases the ratio can be higher - 90 percent to 10 percent. Dr. Wayne Dyer suggests that 80 percent of our thoughts have been the same thoughts that we had yesterday, the day before yesterday and perhaps last week. If you "think" about that principle then eighty percent of your thoughts in one day are probably focused on twenty percent of the same things. BID Buzz

The buzz around Denver is the approval of the Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District's plan by the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association. The CCNA Board announced that out of 328 votes 170 approved and 158 opposed. The approval was 51.8%.

The CCNNA Board and BID have negotiated an alternative Fillmore Plaza design that allows a street though the plaza but preserves a more pedestrian plaza design for the center and north end of Fillmore Plaza. The center and north end features in the alternative design include no vehicular parking, no curbs, a flat level surface and enhanced pedestrian amenities. The plan also calls for periodic street closures for events. As Cherry Creek North phases down on the "face-lift" the new plaza design will add the finishing touch. Refresh the Records
The last week of September in Denver refreshed all the records for late summer temperatures. Sunday's afternoon sports saw sports fans wearing sun visors and reapplying the sunscreen. At Invesco Field, the temperature read 90 degrees, September 26th. Today, September 28th, the temps shot up near 90 and many a Denverite and tourists were seen in shorts, sandals and sunglasses. Later in the day, Bocce Ball games are available along with the usual game of tennis on the various courts. September New

Cherry Creek North was a flutter with nearly 1,000 participants on a warm Saturday afternoon. The 5K Skirt Chasers event was held and the start time for the women was at 5 pm. The chasers, or the men, went at 5:03 pm and barely caught up throughout the entire race course. The race event was colorful and unique, with all the women in runner's skirts. A Princess Sighting . . .

Denver was the hit city for two in-flight magazines, United Airlines Hemispheres and Southwest Airlines Spirit magazine. The second annual Cherry Creek Chamber Croquet Tournament, the Wicket and Stick It, is in play at the corner of Second and Fillmore in Cherry Creek North. Refreshing New Look!
The Annual Cherry Creek North Sidewalk Sale was a huge success and shoppers were more than willing to "Pardon the Dust During Construction". The sidewalks and landscaped areas are under construction as the area is getting a refreshed look, or facelift. Many of the retail stores and restaurants are also re-locating and remodelling the spaces they are moving to. MAX bought the old Smith & Hawken space, right by SOL, Store of Lingerie. Both stores are hugely successful and bring many shoppers from a six state area into Cherry Creek North. The favorite restaurant for generational Denverites is Pasta - Pasta - Pasta and they are moving to NorthCreek at the end of this month. If Pasta had a wall of caricatures, it would rivel the steakhouse downtown for the "who's who" in Denver. Barefoot In The Park

Market Buzz
The buzz around town is that Denver home prices are up 4.1%. John Rebchook reported that a total of 58 homes sold for more than $1 million in April, up more than 70 percent from March and 18 percent from April 2009 when the nation's economy was just beginning to pull out of its long downturn. Roadless Ride
The tenth annual Roadless Ride to benefit Brent's Place took place today at Pura Vida Fitness and Health Club in Cherry Creek North. The Roadless Ride is an all day Spinathon, riding stationary bicycles mixed in with rowing on ergometers. Pura Vida also offered several Yoga and Will Power and Grace classes throughout the day, all sponsored by the various instructors and donations by participants towards Brent's Place. Brent's Place is located near Children's Hospital and is a home away from home for children that are undergoing treatments for cancer. Children's Hospital in Denver treats children from all over Colorado and neighboring states, Brent's Place is available to those families that have children that are involved in oncology treatments that last for weeks at a time. Brent's Place provides a home atmosphere, with love and caring and "old-fashion" fun. Today's fundraiser was sponsored by several Cherry Creek North retailers and restaurants that provided coupons and food and beverage. Hermes Paris
Hermes, c'est arrive! The Denver Art Museum's Ponti Hall is home to the most exquisite dislplay of Hermes combined with a demonstration on the art of printing a silk scarf. This is not just any silk scarf, Hermes has been making silk scarves since 1937 and arrived in Denver with its craftsmen from the ateliers in Lyon, France. The Denver Art Museum's Design Council hosted a luncheon to kick off the Hermes presentation and five day installation. Congratulations Denver
The Denver Board of Realtors hosted the annual Realtor Roundtable Awards Luncheon to honor and celebrate the success of many hard working residential real estate brokers in Denver. A Butterfly Mask

I read recently that Google is not a synonym for research. When you google Denver real estate, are you receiving all the information that you need pertaining to the questions you may have? Breathtaking!

The Who's Who in the Colorado business community gathered Thursday evening to honor and induct the newest members of the Colorado Business Hall of Fame. All the inductees have left marks in the community through philanthropy as well as business. The center of the street features a circular open-space area that will be available for events and concerts that will occur on a regular schedule with vehicular closure of Fillmore on those dates. The design of the plan expresses a continuation of the successful design Clayton Lane, a robust and vibrant street in Cherry Creek North. DESIGN AFTER DARK
The Design Council of the Denver Art Museum held its sixth annual DESIGN AFTER DARK fundraiser. The exciting event celebrates design in Colorado, while raising funds for the Department of Architecture, Design and Graphics at the Denver Art Museum. Humphries Poli Architects, the architectural firm behind the sensational design at NorthCreek, had a visible presence at Design After Dark. Some of the area's most talented creatives designed for auction a number of objects, all inspired by the theme SKIN. Patrons were encouraged to commit to the theme through their evening attire, dressing in feathers, fur, animal prints, etc. Many of the well-known artists, designers, vendors and showrooms in Denver were also represented through their creatives. Soles4Souls
Marmi, the fabulous shoe store at NorthCreek, on the corner of Second Avenue and Detroit St. has kicked off their Soles4Souls charity to help in the relief effort for the earthquake survivors in Haiti. Marmi will be accepting gently worn shoes, and will match client doantions of 50 pair per store. After they achieve the maximum donation per store, Marmi will donate an additional 2000 pair of new shoes to Haiti.
